Why you shouldn't apply for jobs you can already do

May 29, 2019

A useful reminder that we should treat job requirements as guidelines for what a role is about, rather than as a rigid checklist where we must meet every criteria. As the author states, “If you’re completely qualified for the job you apply for, you aimed too low.”

As recruiters and assessors, we must also keep in mind that the best candidate may not have every skill and experience that we're looking for, and that a willingness to learn and a growth mindset goes a long way to bridging any gaps.
